"Hay tantas historias para enriquecer la narrativa general". -Matt Kendall, bibliotecario de archivos
History Happy Hour is a collaboration between Yakima Valley Libraries and Gilbert Cellars. From March 12 through July 9, the winery’s tasting room will host Carlos Pelley, Archive Librarian of our Sala de lectura noroeste, to present a monthly series on Yakima Valley’s diverse history.
Join us to learn stories and view historic imagery from YVL’s archives on local women’s, Japanese American, agricultural, pride, and Latino(a) histories. Pelley and his colleague Matt Kendall curated the interactive presentations from over 50 primary sources and secondary sources.
History Happy Hour is a free, all-ages event open to the public. Attendees are welcome to enjoy local wine (21+), listen, and contribute to cultural conversations. This five-part series will take place on the second Wednesday of each month:
- Wednesday, March 12 from 6-7PM
Women’s History - Wednesday, April 9 from 6-7PM
Historia japonesa americana - Wednesday, May 14 from 6-7PM
Agricultural History - Wednesday, June 11 from 6-7PM
